Siripanna Lunch. One of the Best Buffets in Chiang Mai

Siripanna Hotel has quite an extensive International Buffet lunch on offer in its Sri Banyan restaurant. The Siripanna lunch is a very good option for new people to Thailand, you can sample some of the delights of Thai food that you may see in the markets and been too scared to try, just in case you don’t like it. Here you can try a little bit of each and then you will know what you like!

I am a bit of a value hunter and I enjoy food, so it is a great place to enjoy some good food at a good price. The chefs and staff are attentive to the buffet and to the customers.

The ambiance of the dining areas is pretty elegant, though quaint and old school. You think could be dining with dignitaries in the plush and quiet surrounds. The pictures below are of the enclosed air conditioned room.

Then there’s the undercover but more open area, which feels a little more relaxed. In no part of this restaurant did I ever feel rushed or cramped.

The staff are always busy making sure everything is just perfect.

Siripanna lunch Main Courses

The pasta guy will whip you up some pasta on the spot and it is very well done.

Lots and lots of cheesy pizza is readily available. It’s not the most amazing pizza in Chiang Mai, but good for a cheesy fix.

The northern Thai specialty bar has Khao Soy, green curry, clear soup and other curries and all the traditional extras.

Kway Teo (noodle soup) is also available if you like it. There's a proper dim sum station too, with fresh steamed buns and dumplings coming out hot, though watch out for the chicken feet version.

A fish soupy type thing and other enticing casseroles can be enjoyed over steamed rice or fried rice. Usually one or two Thai style dishes are also on offer.

There is a sushi option that looks good, but I can’t comment any further.

There are a good selection of salad options and their potato salad and pineapple chicken salad are amazing!

There is also a selection of dangerously scary and spicy Thai salads. With some northern Thai sausages also.

Siripanna lunch Desserts

Ice cream. it’s good. Lots of flavors, no more explanation necessary.

The Thai style desserts are available, but most foreigners shy away from these sweet treats. The bananas in coconut are very nice though.

If you like cake, you’re in luck. Lots of cake varieties on offer. Lots of different flavors and styles. Even the Thai custard in pumpkin is always on offer and don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

You can wash everything down with a herbal tea, roselle or even butterfly pea!

All this for 289 baht net. I think I will be back again. I hope you enjoy it!

Its another great thing about living in Chiang Mai.

Guru Tip

The pasta station at Siripanna is the kitchen's best showcase. The chef prepares it fresh on request, which means you get it hot and properly cooked rather than sitting under a heat lamp. Go early in the lunch service (before 12:30pm), ask for your pasta at the station, then build your plate from the rest of the buffet while it is being prepared. It arrives at the table fresh rather than you chasing it from the buffet line.

What is the Siripanna lunch buffet?

Siripanna Villa Resort operates an International Buffet lunch in its Sri Banyan restaurant. It offers a broad mix of Thai and international dishes including a live dim sum station, a pasta station, pizza, and Thai mains, in a quiet and elegant dining room with both indoor and open-air seating areas.

Is Siripanna a good option for newcomers to Thai food?

Excellent choice for it. The buffet format lets you try small amounts of Thai dishes you might see in markets but be uncertain about. You can sample curries, stir-fries, and Thai soups without committing to a full portion. The safe fallback of pizza and pasta is also present if needed.

What is the atmosphere like at Siripanna lunch?

Quiet and elegant. The indoor dining room has an old-school formality that feels unlike most buffets in Chiang Mai. The open-air section is more relaxed. Both areas are well-spaced and the service is attentive without being intrusive.

Does Siripanna have a live cooking station?

Yes. The pasta station is prepared fresh to order, which is the standout feature of the lunch buffet. It is worth using rather than going straight to the cold buffet items.

Is the Siripanna lunch buffet good value?

For the setting and food quality, it offers reasonable value. It is not the cheapest buffet in Chiang Mai but it is a significant step up in atmosphere from mid-range options. The combination of Thai and international dishes at a hotel lunch price point makes it worthwhile for a longer, relaxed midday meal.
