Chiang Mai Arrival and Settle in Program to get you moving forward quickly

The 2026 Chiang Mai Ambassador Arrival Suite

Don't sign a long-term lease from abroad. Use our 6-Day Landing Pad strategy to see Chiang Mai properly before you commit. Most people who rush into a long-term rental from overseas overpay by 20-30%. Six days on the ground fixes that.

Every package includes the Communications and Admin Pack: an AIS or True 5G unlimited SIM for 30 days, a 30-minute 1-on-1 video call before you arrive to finalise your landing strategy, and full setup of Grab, Bolt, LOMO, and food delivery apps. We also handle TDAC (Digital Arrival Card) assistance before you land.

Important: What's Included in "Meet & Greet"

Chiang Mai Ambassador does not provide Fast Track Services or airport immigration assistance at CNX International Airport. What we do offer is direct airport collection in a luxury vehicle and a meet-and-greet after you complete immigration in public arrival areas outside customs. From there, we handle your onward transport and first-day orientation.

The 6-Day Landing Pad: Accommodation Add-Ons

These are priced per stay (6 days/5 nights). The goal is simple: enough time to see three or four neighbourhoods properly and secure your long-term place without pressure.

Level 1: The Nomad Base

Santitham or Jed Yod. Modern studio or private room in a quality hostel. Best for value-seekers who want to be near great street food while hunting for an 8,000-12,000 THB condo. 4,500-6,000 THB for 6 days.

Level 2: The Lifestyle Suite

Nimman or Old City. Serviced apartment with high-speed WiFi, central location, easy access to every neighbourhood you want to assess. Best for remote workers. 9,000-12,000 THB for 6 days.

Level 3: The Lanna Heritage

Riverside or deep Old City. Premium Lanna heritage accommodation. Best for families or retirees who want total comfort while they scout gated communities or luxury villas. 25,000-40,000 THB for 6 days.

Guru Tip

The 6-day landing strategy consistently saves people 20-30% on their first year of rent. Six days on the ground is worth more than six months of research from abroad. You will see how natural light moves through apartments, which streets are noisy at 3am, and which landlords are worth dealing with. None of that is available on Airbnb.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best arrival service for digital nomads in Chiang Mai?

The Ambassador Pack is the most popular for remote workers. It includes a private EV airport pickup, a 1-on-1 DTV or LTR visa consultation, and 7 days of WhatsApp support. Combined with the Lifestyle Suite accommodation add-on in Nimman or Old City, most digital nomads have a permanent place locked in within 4-5 days.

How do I get a DTV visa consultation in Chiang Mai?

The Ambassador and VIP tiers both include visa consultation. We walk through DTV, LTR, and Education pathways and advise on the best fit for your income and situation. For legal filing support, the VIP tier includes full assistance.

Why stay 6 days in accommodation before renting long-term?

Long-term rental prices in Chiang Mai vary significantly by neighbourhood and landlord. Committing from abroad almost always means overpaying. Six days gives you time to walk streets, view multiple apartments, and negotiate from a position of knowledge rather than desperation. The accommodation add-on cost is consistently recovered in the first month's rent saving.

What airport does Chiang Mai use?

Chiang Mai International Airport (IATA: CNX) is located approximately 3 kilometres southwest of the Old City. It handles both domestic and international flights. Direct international routes include connections to regional hubs in China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and several Southeast Asian cities. Most Western arrivals connect through Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK).

How do I get from Chiang Mai airport to the city centre?

By taxi: metered taxis from the taxi counter inside the arrivals hall run approximately 120 to 180 THB to Nimman or the Old City. By Grab: slightly cheaper than the taxi counter for most destinations, bookable from the arrivals hall. By red truck (songthaew): available outside arrivals for around 60 to 80 THB to destinations within the inner city. By airport shuttle bus: limited service. The taxi counter is the most straightforward option for first arrivals.

Do I need to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before arriving?

Yes. The TDAC replaced the paper TM6 arrival card in 2024. Complete it online at tdac.immigration.go.th within 72 hours before your scheduled arrival. It is free and takes 5 minutes. Save the QR code confirmation. Some airlines ask to see it at check-in. Arriving without it means completing it at the immigration desk before processing, adding delay.

Should I get a Thai SIM card at the airport or in the city?

Either works. Airport SIM kiosks (AIS, True Move, DTAC/NT) in the arrivals hall are convenient and well-priced for tourist SIM cards. City 7-Eleven stores and carrier shops throughout Chiang Mai also sell SIM cards, often at the same or slightly lower prices. For a long-stay resident SIM rather than a tourist SIM, visiting a carrier branch in the city gives more plan options than the airport kiosks.

What cash should I arrive with in Chiang Mai?

Have 2,000 to 3,000 THB in cash for immediate expenses: taxi, initial food, convenience store. ATMs at the airport and throughout the city dispense Thai Baht. International ATM fees apply on most Thai bank ATMs (typically 220 THB per transaction). Notify your bank before travel to avoid card blocks. Money exchange booths in the city (Super Rich and similar chains near the Old City) typically offer better rates than airport exchange counters.

Guru Tip

Your first meal in Chiang Mai should be from a street stall or local restaurant, not the airport food court. Walk 10 minutes from wherever you are staying and find something that smells good with Thai people eating at it. This single decision sets the tone for your relationship with Chiang Mai's food. The difference between arriving and immediately eating at a tourist-facing restaurant versus finding your first proper local meal is the difference between thinking Chiang Mai food is good and understanding why people who live here talk about it the way they do.
